Frequently asked questions
Can't find the answer? Call your clinic or ask at your next visit.
How often will I be called for a check-up?
It depends on your circumstances. At the check-up you and your clinician discuss how often you should come — some benefit from several visits a year, others only need to come every other year. You get a recommendation, but the decision is always yours.
What does a visit cost?
The cost depends on your age and on which examinations and treatments you need. All treatment is agreed with you. If you are entitled to Swedish state dental care support, it can reduce your cost. See Prices — there is also a calculator to estimate what you pay yourself.
I need an emergency appointment — what do I do?
Call the clinic you usually visit. For urgent problems, do not wait for an email reply. Outside opening hours, call the same number — the answering service will direct you onward. More under Emergency dental care.
I am afraid of the dentist — how can you help?
We are used to anxious patients. Tell us about your fear when you book, so we know before you arrive. Every visit starts with a conversation — only then does the examination begin, and you are told what will happen before it happens. Read our advice about dental anxiety.
How does teeth whitening work?
Whitening agents can lighten discolouration in natural teeth. The effect and risks depend on the product, method and how it is used. We first assess your teeth and advise you on a suitable method. Treatment may continue at home with individually fitted trays and instructions from your dental professional. More under Teeth whitening.
What is fluoride?
Fluorine is an element found naturally in bedrock and in small amounts in water and food. Fluoride strengthens enamel and is one of the most effective ways to prevent cavities — that is why brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste is the basis of oral care.
What is a dental implant?
An artificial titanium root that is placed in the jawbone, onto which one or more crowns can be fixed. You get a new tooth that is firmly attached and in most ways feels like a natural tooth. Read more under Implants & prosthetics.
